Organization overview

The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), based in Arlington, Virginia, represents the business, legislative and regulatory interests of the U.S. animal food industry and its suppliers. Founded in 1909 as the American Feed Manufacturers Association, it has more than 650 domestic and international members, including livestock feed and pet food manufacturers, integrators, pharmaceutical companies, ingredient suppliers and equipment manufacturers. AFIA members manufacture more than 75% of U.S. feed and about 70% of the country's non-whole grain ingredients. AFIA represents members before policymakers and regulators, provides training such as a feed manufacturing course with Kansas State University, publishes animal food export data, runs an online buyers' guide and holds industry events including the International Production & Processing Expo.
